I kept seeing this video posted around Facebook and finally got curious enough to click on it. Glad I did! Nicki Bluhm & The Gramblers are on tour right now and it seems they have come up with a pretty simple, but innovative idea to promote themselves while on the road. They have periodically been recording covers of tunes from other artists while they are driving in their van and they have been posting them around the internet as their “Van Sessions.” Check out this video of them covering Hall & Oates‘, “I Can’t Go For That.” For this and other videos by Nicki Bluhm & The Gramblers check out their YouTube channel, here. Good stuff!

Having some fun with Lagwagon at Slim’s in San Francisco, CA on 12/17/11 as they play “Confession.”

Lagwagon playing “Sick” at their CD release party for their new box set at Slim‘s in San Francisco on 12/17/11. Such a fun night since I had not seen them in a while.

Lagwagon performs “Wind In Your Sail” at Slim’s in San Francisco on 12/17/11. It was an awesome night since it was their CD release party for their box set, but they were plagued with minor problems as witnessed in this video when Joey Cape‘s mic cuts out.

The Weakerthans play “(Manifest)” on the last night of a four night run at The Independent in San Francisco, CA.

I think the best way to put it is that I have been having “fun” with Skrillex this past year and his introduction to Dubstep for the mass audience. If you don’t know who Skrillex is, it is Sonny Moore from the band, From First To Last, and he just had a huge year in 2011 and is currently enjoying an even bigger one now after winning three Grammys.

I have been enjoying all of his stuff lately, but have recently just started checking out his videos. I hope you enjoy his stuff as much as I do. Have fun!

Originally written by Trent Reznor and performed by Nine Inch Nails (see their live version, here), Hurt turned into such an iconic video for Johnny Cash in 2002. This was probably partially due to the fact that this was one of the last videos that Johnny Cash did before his death and it featured images of his life. Directed by Mark Romanek, the video for Hurt went on to earn best video of the year by the Grammy Awards and CMA Awards, and the best video of all time by NME in July 2011.

As everyone already knows, I am into music. I do like other things though, and one of these things is biking. Every year around Spring I start going through YouTube to watch all the new biking videos to get me psyched for the biking season. Sometimes I happen to come across some pretty good music in these videos too. For instance, in this video I got hooked on Band of Horses‘, “The Funeral.”

Filmed in and around Edinburgh, Scotland by Dave Sowerby, this video of Inspired Bicycles team rider Danny MacAskill features some the best riding I’ve ever seen. There’s some awesome riding, but also some of the most technically difficult and imaginative lines you will ever see. Without a doubt, this video pushes the envelope of what is perceived as possible on a bike.

Enjoy the music and the riding!
