Foster the People do not rest. We announced their 2012 North American tour dates with Tokyo Police Club, but it’s only a portion of their full tour schedule – which includes time with The Kooks and Mayer Hawthorne. That is a potent set of support acts, my friends. The Kooks kick off the tour with two shows in New York, T.P.C. covers the Northeast support, and Mayer Hawthorne holds down his soul in the West.

Foster the People’s 2012 North American tour dates:

05-29-30 New York, NY – Rumsey Playfield *
06-01  Columbus, OH – The LC Pavilion *
06-04 Grand Prairie, TX – Verizon Theatre *
06-05 Austin, TX – The Backyard *
06-07 Alpharetta, GA – Verizon Wireless Ampitheatre *
06-10 Columbia, MD – Merriweather Post Pavilion *
06-12 Montreal, Quebec – Lachine Canal #

Sea of Dreams New Year's Eve 2012

2012 is almost upon us, and if you’re like me and my friends, you’re bickering over 6 different New Years Eve plans floating around. Well, allow us to confuse you even more. Here’s Thrillcall’s recommendations of the best concerts on New Years Eve in San Francisco to ring in 2012:

Primus – “Hawaiian Hukilau” at Great American Music Hall

  • Who: Primus
  • When: Doors 8pm / Show 9pm
  • Where: Great American Music Hall, 859 O’Farrell (at Polk)
  • Tickets

Les Claypool’s annual New Years Eve party is a thing of legends, which explains why it sold out the Great American Music Hall weeks before the end of the year – but if you can pony up cash for resale tickets or slip in at the door, you’ll enjoy one of the weirdest parties to exist in this already-very-weird city. This should carry that extra special reunion vibe considering 2011’s Green Naugahyde was Primus’…

Warren Hellman, Hardly Strictly Bluegrass patron, Dies At 77

Warren Hellman, the prominent Bay Area philanthropist best known for sponsoring the Hardly Strictly Bluegrass Festival in Golden Gate Park since 2001, has passed away due to complications of leukemia at age 77, his family announced.

The festival, which has remained free to visitors for the past decade due to Hellman’s sponsorship, has expanded to bring in 300,000+ visitors annually over the course of the 3-day event. And Hellman ensured his generosity would carry on without him, creating an endowment to fund the festival after his passing. Patricia Hellman Gibbs, his daughter, confirmed Sunday: “yes, the Hardly Strictly Bluegrass festival will go on!”

Just a week ago, Hellman learned of The San Francisco Recreation and Park Commission’s decision to rename Speedway Meadow, the heart of the festival grounds in Golden Gate Park, to Hellman Hollow in his honor. Has a great ring to it for Hardly Strictly 2012.

Eminem turned down 6 million dollars to play Big Day Out in Australia.

Eminem turned down a $6 million offer to headline Australia’s Big Day Out festival in 2012, according to organizer Ken West. Six million dollars! That’s about 5x more than I’ll make in my entire lifetime at this rate.

If you’re still recovering from your double take, wondering why on Earth Slim Shady would turn down such a sweet pile of money, then get this: 6 mil wasn’t even the most attractive offer the Land Down Under offered the Detroit rapper in that time frame. Australia’s Dainty Group reportedly lured him away with a $15 million contract for 3 Sydney and Melbourne shows, which reportedly prevented him from playing Big Day Out. This isn’t the first time this year that Big Day Out has dropped headliners.

Says West: “For Eminem walking out with $15million off three shows, means that it was la la land to ever think he could do the…

UPDATE: A Day To Remember’s lawsuit against Victory Records confirmed

Late tonight, the internet was abuzz with rumors that A Day To Remember were going to be filing a lawsuit against their label, Victory Records, alleging breach of contract. While it’s unclear if any new lawsuit exists, AP did uncover a PDF of a May 31, 2011, lawsuit filed by the members of ADTR in U.S. District Court in Tennessee. This particular lawsuit, which names Victory Records as a defendant, does allege breach of contract, while also stating that the band feel they have fulfilled their contractual obligations; in addition, ADTR is seeking “an accounting of the Defendants to disclose fully and accurately monies earned and amounts due and owing to” them. You can view the entire document below; however, it’s also unclear whether any judgment has been rendered in this particular lawsuit.

AP is reaching out to the label and the band for comment; we’ll update this post with information as…

A7X Photo

Avenged Sevenfold  played at the Target Center in Minneapolis Minnesota on December 3rd, along with Hollywood UndeadAsking Alexandria, and Black Veil Brides. Our respect for A7X continues to grow ever since they announced a free concert for Bay Area fans to make up for their cancelled performance at Live 105′s Uproar Festival in Mountain View, CA.  Before their performance in Minneapolis, they received a request from a fan to sing along with them to “Second Heartbeat,”  and they made that fan very happy. Watch below:

The 2012 Bamboozle lineup is gradually rolling in. Bon JoviFoo Fighters and Blink 182 featured on a leaked flyer yesterday, when Ticketmaster jumped the gun on posting their event listing, with the promotional flyer featured prominently on the page. We now have another handful of artists confirmed for the festival:

Yep – the head honcho of the Jersey Shore clan (sorry, Sitch) will bring his DJ talents to Bamboozle 2012. Wonder where he’ll set up his private smashquarters…?

The festival goes down May 18th-20th, 2012 at Asbury Park in New Jersey. Tickets will cost $65 for Friday passes, $75 apiece for the weekend dates or $190 for a 3-day pass. We’ll keep you posted as more information rolls in.

Ticketmaster leaked the 2012 Bamboozle lineup.

Looks like a Ticketmaster gaffe has leaked the Bamboozle 2012 headliners a little ahead of schedule. Bon Jovi, Foo Fighters and Blink 182 all appear in a promotional image on a page that was shared 2500+ times between Facebook and Twitter before Ticketmaster realized they’d jumped the gun on the announcement. The page has since been taken down, but the information is out there now.

Tickets are $65 for Friday passes, $75 apiece for the weekend dates or $190 for a 3-day pass. No word yet on when they’re supposed to go on sale (Ticketmaster errors aside).

Praise be to NJ Underground for spotting this.
