Van Halen Tour Dates 2012

It’s official, Van Halen and David Lee Roth will begin their 45-stop 2012 tour in support of their new album, A Different Kind of Truth,   on February 18th in Louisville, Kentucky. This the first album the duo have recorded since 1984, though they’ve toured together in 2007 and 2008. With Roth and Hagar reunited, the final missing link, bassist Michael Anthony, isn’t expected to return thanks to the prowess of his replacement , Wolfgang Van Halen, better known as Halen’s son. According to the press release, the group will play several new songs accompanied by favorable tunes like “Eruption,” “Running With the Devil,” “Hot for Teacher,” and more.

And if the combo of Halen and Roth didn’t get you hot and bothered enough, Kool & the Gang will be opening for the band on select dates. Now let’s get a celebration for partying like it’s the 80s all…

Van Halen will tour with David Lee Roth in 2012.

Reignite the David Lee Roth vs. Sammy Hagar debate! Roth has announced he will rejoin Van Halen for a 40th anniversary tour and a new album on Interscope Records in 2012. The album represents the first recorded material with the original Van Halen vocalist since 1984, though Roth did tour several reunion shows with the band between 2006 and 2008.

The tour reveal was posted on the band’s official website today. No specific dates have been announced yet, but we’ll get them shortly – we already know tickets go on sale January 10th, thanks to this black-and-white confetti-laden promo video:

We’ll report back with full tour dates when we get the announcement.

Foster the People do not rest. We announced their 2012 North American tour dates with Tokyo Police Club, but it’s only a portion of their full tour schedule – which includes time with The Kooks and Mayer Hawthorne. That is a potent set of support acts, my friends. The Kooks kick off the tour with two shows in New York, T.P.C. covers the Northeast support, and Mayer Hawthorne holds down his soul in the West.

Foster the People’s 2012 North American tour dates:

05-29-30 New York, NY – Rumsey Playfield *
06-01  Columbus, OH – The LC Pavilion *
06-04 Grand Prairie, TX – Verizon Theatre *
06-05 Austin, TX – The Backyard *
06-07 Alpharetta, GA – Verizon Wireless Ampitheatre *
06-10 Columbia, MD – Merriweather Post Pavilion *
06-12 Montreal, Quebec – Lachine Canal #

Sea of Dreams New Year's Eve 2012

2012 is almost upon us, and if you’re like me and my friends, you’re bickering over 6 different New Years Eve plans floating around. Well, allow us to confuse you even more. Here’s Thrillcall’s recommendations of the best concerts on New Years Eve in San Francisco to ring in 2012:

Primus – “Hawaiian Hukilau” at Great American Music Hall

  • Who: Primus
  • When: Doors 8pm / Show 9pm
  • Where: Great American Music Hall, 859 O’Farrell (at Polk)
  • Tickets

Les Claypool’s annual New Years Eve party is a thing of legends, which explains why it sold out the Great American Music Hall weeks before the end of the year – but if you can pony up cash for resale tickets or slip in at the door, you’ll enjoy one of the weirdest parties to exist in this already-very-weird city. This should carry that extra special reunion vibe considering 2011’s Green Naugahyde was Primus’…

Eminem turned down 6 million dollars to play Big Day Out in Australia.

Eminem turned down a $6 million offer to headline Australia’s Big Day Out festival in 2012, according to organizer Ken West. Six million dollars! That’s about 5x more than I’ll make in my entire lifetime at this rate.

If you’re still recovering from your double take, wondering why on Earth Slim Shady would turn down such a sweet pile of money, then get this: 6 mil wasn’t even the most attractive offer the Land Down Under offered the Detroit rapper in that time frame. Australia’s Dainty Group reportedly lured him away with a $15 million contract for 3 Sydney and Melbourne shows, which reportedly prevented him from playing Big Day Out. This isn’t the first time this year that Big Day Out has dropped headliners.

Says West: “For Eminem walking out with $15million off three shows, means that it was la la land to ever think he could do the…

Bamboozle 2012 features Blink 182, Bon Jovi and Foo Fighters.

The 2012 Bamboozle lineup is gradually rolling in. Bon JoviFoo Fighters and Blink 182 featured on a leaked flyer yesterday, when Ticketmaster jumped the gun on posting their event listing, with the promotional flyer featured prominently on the page. We now have another handful of artists confirmed for the festival:

Yep – the head honcho of the Jersey Shore clan (sorry, Sitch) will bring his DJ talents to Bamboozle 2012. Wonder where he’ll set up his private smashquarters…?

The festival goes down May 18th-20th, 2012 at Asbury Park in New Jersey. Tickets will cost $65 for Friday passes, $75 apiece for the weekend dates or $190 for a 3-day pass. We’ll keep you posted as more information rolls in.

Ticketmaster leaked the 2012 Bamboozle lineup.

Looks like a Ticketmaster gaffe has leaked the Bamboozle 2012 headliners a little ahead of schedule. Bon Jovi, Foo Fighters and Blink 182 all appear in a promotional image on a page that was shared 2500+ times between Facebook and Twitter before Ticketmaster realized they’d jumped the gun on the announcement. The page has since been taken down, but the information is out there now.

Tickets are $65 for Friday passes, $75 apiece for the weekend dates or $190 for a 3-day pass. No word yet on when they’re supposed to go on sale (Ticketmaster errors aside).

Praise be to NJ Underground for spotting this.
