Lana Del Rey performed "Video Games" on SNL this weekend.

Lana Del Rey performed “Video Games” this weekend on Saturday Night Live. We’ll let you form your own opinion. Watch it below:

NBC news anchor Brian Williams took time away from More Important Things to holler at Gawker with his take on her appearance:

Brooklyn hippster [sic] Lana Del Rey had one of the worst outings in SNL history last night — booked on the strength of her TWO SONG web EP, the least-experienced musical guest in the show’s history, for starters.

Ouch. The divisive singer, who has absorbed accusations of sporting a label-contrived image but has some fantastic songs behind her, still looks shaky onstage. But it wasn’t that bad, right? What do you think?

I came across this great little video from Stephen J. Anderson the other day that put a smile on my face.  According to him,

“I got bored and curious at the same time so I decided to see if I could turn my kitchen into a musical instrument… DIY style.”

Looks like some good ol’ fun around the house! Reminds me something I might have done with bandmates in high school. Good times!

Blink-182 stopped by Conan last night to perform their new single from Neighborhoods, “After Midnight.” Check out the video below.

The band plans to release an official music video for the track very soon.

Take On Me” was directed by Steve Barron, who took on A-ha‘s music video project soon after filming “Billie Jean” by Michael Jackson and “Money For Nothing” by Dire Straits. One of my favorite music videos, “Take On Me” was innovative for it’s time due to its use of rotoscoping, or using the combination of pencil-sketch animation and live action whereby real footage is traced over. “Take On Me” wasn’t just groundbreaking in its style, but it also had a cool little artistic storyline. A girl sitting in the café reading a comic book literally get’s dragged into a dangerous motorcycle race and becomes part of the story. A cute little side note – the girl was actually lead singer Morten Harket‘s girlfriend at the time.

Enjoy the ride:

Can music videos get much more classic than Michael Jackson‘s? How about this one? Michael Jackson’s, “Thriller,” not only has classic zombie dance moves that have been repeated over and over again but it also has a pretty classic lineup of talent featuring Director John Landis fresh from An American Werewolf in London, Elmer Bernstein (who composed incidental music), makeup artist Rick Baker, and überghoul Vincent Price as narrator. Zombie music videos can’t get much better.

Damn, I love Talking Heads videos. Why aren’t videos cool like this these days? Seems to me that videos used to be more artsy and less about glitz and glam (although there are some musicians out there that make some pretty artsy videos these days). Remember the video for the Talking Heads’, “Once In A Lifetime?” It was so classically Talking Heads, so classically David Byrne, and so classically 80’s that how could you forget it? When it debuted a year after its 1980 release, “Once In A Lifetime” became one of the most rotated videos on MTV. The video was also later exhibited at New York’s Museum of Modern Art. Thirty years later, it is still an iconic video. Check it out:

This is pretty awesome…. If you missed it when it came out in May, you gotta check out this flash mob conducted (yeah, like that?) by the Copenhagen Phil in the Copenhagen Central Station on May 2, 2011. The video shows the Phil gradually gathering as they play Ravel‘s famed Bolero. I love the mix of old, classical music with the new, modern marketing campaign. Kudos to the Copenhagen Phil. Enjoy!

Ok, I came across this video a little while ago and have been wanting to share it since it pretty much leaves me speechless everytime I watch it. These guys have put together the most crazy touring vehicle I have ever seen. I have no idea where this is really, other than the fact that the video I originally found on LiveLeak.com is listed as coming from Russia. So, if you know anything about these guys please let me know. Otherwise, enjoy!!
