Noise Pop 2012 starts on February 22, 2012.

Just announced: the Noise Pop 2012 lineup! Celebrating its 20th anniversary, the San Francisco-based music festival features Cursive and Built to Spill as headlining acts, with appearances from Die Antwoord, Grimes, and Surfer Blood representing a particularly solid early lineup this year. The festival, known for its genre-bending bills, will take place across multiple venues and dates from February 22-25, and will feature upwards of 150 artists in total.

The inimitable Shepard Fairey, founder and creative mind behind the Obey brand, is responsible for Noise Pop’s graphic design this year, which can only mean one thing: the 20th anniversary Noise Pop merch will be incredible.

Full lineup as it’s been announced so far:

Budos Band
Built to Spill
Christie Front Drive
Craig Finn

We’ll update when we have information on how they’ll offer refunds.

Jake Shimabukuro will tour the United States in 2011/2012, and with 15 dates in California we’d make jokes about him getting his sun in, but the man’s from Hawaii so we think he’s got us beat.

For the curious, Jake’s ukelele talents went viral when his cover of The Beatles’ “While My Guitar Gently Weeps” went viral on YouTube. Watch it here:

Justice interview at the Creators Project in New York.

Justice will launch a 2012 US tour in support of Audio, Video, Disco, the followup to their 2007 Grammy-nominated debut, . It’s their first tour in two years, but if it seems like it’s been awhile, remember what they told us when we interviewed them at the Creators Project last month: “When you make a record, it doesn’t matter if it took four years or four month or weeks to make. What matters…is just if it’s good.”

They’ve had two years since the last round of shows to “make it good,” so expect a spectacular, finely-tuned display when the show finds its way Stateside in March.

Avenged Sevenfold will play a free show at HP Pavillion and tour in 2011.

Avenged Sevenfold have announced 2011 tour dates, including a FREE show on December 16th, 2011 at HP Pavilion in San Jose, CA. The free show atones for their cancelled performance at Live 105′s Uproar Festival in Mountain View, CA last month – those previously bummed out fans will be able to exchange their Uproar passes for priority tickets to this show, which guarantees first entry to the venue and first choice of seats. Your window for making the swap and securing those priority passes is small, though: you have until 11/23/11 at midnight PST to claim your exchange. After that, you get relegated in with the rest of the plebes trying to get their hands on these tickets.

However – and this is where we really commend the band for going above and beyond – even if you never had a ticket to Uproar, you’re still invited to the free…
